gloria - 2019
Embroidered above the haphazardly cut-out hole reads ‘gloria’; the latin word for glory. gloria is an interpretation of the cultural curiosity of a glory hole; "a hole in a wall or other material that allows people to engage in anonymous sexual activity".
By inserting ‘gloria’ into the composition, a sense of sacred duty is aroused. gloria writes the narrative of a woman’s sexuality being simultaneously her own yet also fabricated and enforced by the religious and political powers surrounding her.
