Ribboning II - 2019

Ribboning II (2019) is the second installation of a video series which addresses female complicity within traditional beauty and behavioural standards.

Body parts are methodically and tenderly wrapped in cream and white coloured ribbons, consequently unravelled on screen.

Isolation is suggested through each body part appearing separated from the whole, implying a struggle with the desire to belong within a socio-political landscape that aims to divide and alienate the individual.

An archetypal form of femininity is harnessed to study the interaction between one’s compliance and the emotional responses that fuel it.
